CONCORD, NH – The Endowment for Health Board of Directors announced today that President Dr. Yvonne Goldsberry plans to retire in 2027, concluding more than a decade of leadership devoted to improving the health and well-being of people across New Hampshire.
A nationally recognized health policy and population health leader, Goldsberry has dedicated her career to improving health systems, strengthening community health, and improving the conditions for belonging and thriving. As President of the Endowment for Health, she has provided strategic leadership for a $100 million foundation, shaped philanthropic investments, and built partnerships across issues and sectors. Previously, she held senior leadership roles at Cheshire Medical Center and the State of New Hampshire, Department of Health and Human Services, where she guided the transition to value-based care and led innovative community health and prevention initiatives.
Among Goldsberry’s many accomplishments are the creation of the nationally recognized Healthy Monadnock initiative, involving more than 2,000 community leaders and residents. She was also instrumental in developing the New Hampshire Public Health Network and managing emergency preparedness efforts for the State of New Hampshire. Prior to that she led health policy initiatives and research on the national level for a variety of Washington, DC-based think tanks and academic institutions. She has also served on numerous state and national boards and governor-appointed commissions, published on health policy and population health issues, and received multiple honors.
Dr. Goldsberry holds a Ph.D in Health Policy from George Washington University, a Master of Public Health and a Master of Science in Urban Planning, both from Columbia University, and a Bachelor of Arts in Biology from Brown University.
Goldsberry became president of the Endowment in September 2015 after serving as vice president for programs. Throughout her tenure, she has strengthened the Endowment’s role as a trusted, nonpartisan partner and catalyst for improving health and reducing the burden of illness - particularly for New Hampshire residents who are vulnerable and underserved.
“Yvonne’s leadership has helped the Endowment respond thoughtfully and boldly to some of the most important health challenges facing our state,” said Board Chair Chris Matthews. “She has brought people together, elevated community voices and helped build partnerships that will continue to benefit Granite Staters for years to come. We are deeply grateful for her service and the lasting foundation she has built.”
During Goldsberry’s tenure, the Endowment enhanced grantmaking, deepened impact investments, and expanded community engagement in policy change. Recent accomplishments include:

Leading the launch and sustainment of initiatives such as the Alliance for Health Aging, the NH Center for Justice and Equity, and HealthForce NH, a statewide effort to grow, retain and strengthen New Hampshire’s healthcare workforce.

Establishing the Forward Fund with $1.9 million to support healthcare initiatives serving communities that have historically faced barriers to care.

Providing more than $1 million in operating support to 21 community health and community mental health centers across New Hampshire.

Awarding nearly $5.8 million through 90 grants to 61 organizations during the Endowment’s most recent fiscal year.

Overseeing the growth of the Endowment’s corpus from $80 million to $107 million dollars and efforts to align investments with the Endowment’s mission.

The Board has begun a national search for the Endowment’s next president and has retained DSG | Koya, part of DSG Global, to support the process. The search will be led by Kim Dukes, Managing Director and Molly Brennan, Global Managing Partner and Practice Leader for Nonprofit and Social Impact.
Goldsberry will continue serving as president through the leadership transition in 2027. Additional information about the search will be shared as it becomes available.
