Susan began her 40+ year career as a social studies teacher in Massachusetts and New Hampshire. She taught English as a Foreign Language to adults in Iran in the late 1970’s, subsequently traveling worldwide. In the early ‘80’s she was named the first NH State Refugee Resettlement Coordinator, primarily serving refugees from Southeast Asia.
She has worked in the private, public and nonprofit sectors, in leadership roles as a public administrator, political campaign manager, fund raising and communications professional. Prior to retiring in 2014, she was the CEO and President of Spaulding Youth Center/Foundation where she led efforts to expand intensive residential therapeutic, special education and foster care services for children and youth aged 5 – 21 with autism, neurological impairments, behavioral and/or intellectual challenges, by spearheading a campaign to build a state-of-the-art special education school.
She holds a bachelor’s degree in history from Bridgewater State College and a master’s of science degree in organizational leadership and management from Antioch University New England.
