Social & Cultural Barriers to Health Goal: To reduce social and cultural barriers to health and health care for the people of New Hampshire.
Investment to Date: $4,625,168.00 A variety of social and cultural factors create barriers to health and health care including English language skills, cultural differences, economic status, access to health insurance, educational attainment and stigma. Overcoming these barriers and creating equal access and opportunities for all of New Hampshire's residents requires a commitment to develop our cross-cultural communication skills and better utilization of interpreters to close the gap. It also requires us to address the root causes of New Hampshire's social and cultural barriers to health by employing strategies on education, public policy change, empowerment of vulnerable populations, diversification of the health workforce, and data collection.
